Protective vests, or body protectors, are made from materials which absorb and spread impact, thereby lessening or reducing an injury sustained from a fall or kick. Injuries cannot be entirely prevented by wearing a body protector but the severity of any prospective injury can be significantly reduced. Any body protector should be fastened tightly and correctly and should conform to the current safety standard, which is BETA 2000. There are 3 different categories of body protector, offering differing levels of protection: Level 1: Offers the lowest level of protection and is only considered appropriate for licenced jockeys. Level 2: Offers medium protection and is suitable for most low risk general riding (i.e., excluding riding on roads or other hard surfaces, over jumps, riding young or excitable horses, etc). Level 3: Offers the most protection and is appropriate for normal horse riding, competitive horse riding and working with horses. Below are the protective vests that we carry and recommend to our customers. |

Airowear Outlyne Safety Vest
The Outlyne body protector is the new soft and flexible body protector for women. Styled with a zip-front, Outlyne's design ensures women of different shapes and sizes can comfortably fit into a standard-sized body protector. Using the UltraFlex technology, Outlyne moulds around the body, using thin layers of impact absorbing materials to absorb energy from a fall or kick. UltraFlex technology combines super-soft absorption materials with lightweight and perfortated properties to improve comfort and airflow.

Charles Owen jL9 Safety Vest The jL9 Body Protector provides the feel of gel with the performance of foam. The gel material provides an extremely malleable feel and less ridgid fit than other materials, and enables the product to mould more effectivly to the body, in particular the ribs, whilst being lighter in weight. The rider feels supple rather than as though they are encased, enabling them to perform to the best of their ability. An active join allows the ribcage to expand without being restricted.
Certified to BETA level 3, the jL9 body protector provides the maximum in protection without the unwelcome bulk. |
